At CTP, collective research is the portion of on-going research considered essential by the Board of Administrators and partially financed by French funds. The scope of the collective research programme spans all of paper making on the principle that CTP should be concerned with every facet of the industry. The Board of Administrators has chosen to divide the research into 4 programmes:
1. Recycled Fibres Programme, which includes de-inking, packaging recycling, stickies control and recovered paper quality.
2. Wood Chemistry & Pulp Technology, which is carried out in partnership with AFOCEL, EFPG, CERMAV and University of Grenoble.
3. Environment includes all subjects concerning air and water quality, waste management and energy.
4. Product Quality covers including new coating technologies and materials, as well as paper with respect to the rapidly changing printing industry.
Process Control: Simulation and Sensors is a programme unto itself. It serves the other 3 programmes and functions within them.
The programmes are each composed of 12 to 30 or more projects. At the end of every year, the Board of Administrators votes the projects composing the programmes for the coming year.
